The journey to Vlieland

Vlieland is one of the Wadden Islands of the Netherlands and is located between Texel and Terschelling. 

From Harlingen or Kornwerderzand, you can make the crossing to Vlieland or Terschelling. From the marina in Dokkumer Nieuwe Zijlen, we assume that you will head to the Wadden Sea at Lauwersoog. You would then sail from Ameland over the Wadden Sea towards Vlieland. Keep a close eye on the water levels. From the Vliestroom (VL), you can choose the sheltered route or a bit through the sea gap between Terschelling and Vlieland. The sheltered route goes along the south of the sandbank the Richel, through the Vlielanderbalg to the Vliestroom. This route can only be followed around high tide.

Overnighting in the marina of Vlieland

When the harbor of Vlieland comes into view, follow the buoys along the beach. NOTE: There can be a significant tidal current here. Once you are in the harbor, one of the harbor masters will assign you a berth.

The harbor has a toilet building, a small supermarket, a cafeteria, and a restaurant. Additionally, you can also use the laundromat, and within 100 meters, you will find a gas station. You can also swim for free at sports center Flidunen when your boat is in the harbor.

Overnighting in the Wadden harbor of Vlieland costs €0.90 per m2. Additionally, the tourist tax is €2.05 per person per night.
