Do you want to sail with a Lemsteraak on the Wadden Sea? Lemsteraak “Wilde Gans” was built in 1994; it’s a beautiful Aak with the mast on the cabin, creating ample standing height.

The story of the Wilde Gans
Lemsteraak “Wilde Gans” was built at the van Rijnsoever shipyard in Deil in 1994, based on the historic design by De Boer from Lemmer. It’s a beautiful Aak with the mast on the cabin, creating ample standing height. Both outside and inside, it’s a magnificent ship, meticulously crafted and furnished. It sails sharply and comfortably dries out, in short, pure enjoyment on the Wadden Sea.
Layout of the Wilde Gans
The Aak is 10.05m long, 3.70m wide, with a draft of 0.85m, and importantly, a headroom of 1.95m.
In the bow on the port side, there is a double bed, and on the starboard side, there are two single beds in a bunk bed arrangement. In the galley, the benches can be converted into two additional single beds. This allows six people to sleep on board.
In the cabin, you’ll find a 4-burner gas stove, a spacious refrigerator, hot air heating, and a fully equipped kitchen.
Regarding technology, the Wilde Gans is well-equipped with a 48HP Bukh 3-cylinder marine diesel engine for propulsion when the wind is calm or for maneuvering in ports.
With a draft of only 0.85m and a “flat” bottom, she is highly suitable for shallow waters such as the Wadden Sea and the Frisian lakes. Grounding on the Wad is always a unique experience, and due to her shallow draft, she can sail over a large part of the Wadden Sea.

Renting the Wilde Gans
The rental of the Wilde Gans is managed by the owners of the ship, with Sil acting as the intermediary. If you have any questions about this, please contact us.
Insurance and Deposit
When renting the Wilde Gans, you are required to pay a deposit of €500 before departure. You will receive an email about this five days before your arrival.
Renting a Flat-bottomed Boat on the Wadden Sea
The Wilde Gans is moored at Jachthaven Lunegat, an hour’s sail from the Wadden Sea. Are you booking the Wilde Gans for sailing with a flat-bottomed boat on the Wadden Sea?
Wind Protocol
- Wind force 4 to 5: Put in the first reef.
- Wind force 5 to 6: Put in the second reef.
- Wind force 6 or higher: Seek a harbor or safe anchorage as soon as possible.
