Sailing with Blauburd

Welcome aboard Blauburd!
Designer and builder Siger Bos aimed to create a fast-sailing vessel that is both comfortable and functional. In doing so, he pushed the boundaries set by the traditional registry (SSRP) — with great results! After four years of preparation, designing, and planning, Blauburd was built in 2006 at Scheepsbouw Kroes in Leeuwarden.
Blauburd stands out with her beautiful (traditional) lines, wide bow, and of course, her signature blue color. She is a sturdy, spacious fishing vessel (13.5m long and 4.5m wide), offering plenty of room both inside and out (with a standing height of 1.95m). The ship can be easily sailed by two people, but there’s ample space for more. It sleeps up to 6 adults or 4 adults and 4 children (see the floorplans for the dimensions of the beds).
Thanks to her hull shape, Blauburd is a stable, fast-sailing, and comfortable boat that takes on little spray. The hull is built from 20mm steel, making it ideal for safely grounding on the mudflats. Additionally, the self-tailing winches make raising and lowering the sails (with a total sail area of 100m²) easy, and the cockpit is self-draining. In short, she’s a fantastic boat for sailing, and even when you’re not sailing, she’s a comfortable place to be.
Interior
The remarkably bright interior creates a pleasant atmosphere. The kitchen is equipped with 3 gas burners, a sink with a faucet, and a spacious refrigerator. Thanks to the gas oven, you can enjoy freshly baked rolls for breakfast even when you’re grounded on the mudflats.
There is more than enough storage space, and the lighting has been well thought out. A radio is available, along with 12V and 220V outlets for chargers and appliances like a coffee maker. You can cozy up on the corner couch, dine at the spacious table, and if it gets chilly, turn on the diesel heater — all of this is possible!
The bathroom is spacious and includes a sink.
In short, Blauburd is a fantastic, sturdy, fast, well-maintained, and reliable boat. Whether you’re sailing as a couple, with one or two families, or with up to 6 adults, Blauburd is the perfect vessel for your adventures.
Insurance and Deposit
When renting Blauburd, a deposit of €1000 is required. This deposit must be paid before departure, and you will receive an email about it five days before your arrival.

Wind Protocol
- Wind force 4 to 5: Put in the first reef.
- Wind force 5 to 6: Put in the second reef.
- Wind force 6 or higher: Seek a harbor or safe anchorage as soon as possible.
