Rent a boat in Friesland and go on a sailing holiday! At Sailing with Sil, you can rent a flat-bottom boat or sloop. All flat-bottom boats have at least two fixed sleeping places. Additionally, they also have a kitchenette and a toilet on board.

It’s time to plan your holiday! For a sailing holiday in Friesland, you are at the right place with us. From the northernmost point of Friesland, at the edge of the Lauwersmeer, we rent classic boats. Here you will find flat-bottom boats and sloops with history and character. Our fleet includes 3 Lemsteraken, 2 schokkers, and 2 zeeschouwen, as well as a Norwegian sloop from 1946. We are currently busy with a wooden schokker, but more on that later.
From the marina, you can go in any direction. With our flat-bottom boats, you can explore the provinces of Friesland and Groningen. Prefer to head out onto the Wadden Sea? That’s possible with our flat-bottom boats; you will then pass through the lock at Lauwersoog.
Fixed sleeping places
All flat-bottom boats have at least two fixed sleeping places, a kitchenette, and a toilet on board.
No boating license required
To rent one of our sloops, you do not need a boating license — we provide you with sailing lessons and instructions. For our flat-bottom boats, sailing experience is required.
Dogs welcome
Do you want to bring your dog on board? This is allowed, just let us know when booking.

Come rent a sailboat in Friesland! With us, you don’t just rent any sailboat; you rent a flat-bottom boat to sail on the Wadden Sea! Step aboard a Lemsteraak, Zeegrundel, or Zeeschouw with your friends or family and start your sailing adventure. From Dokkumer Nieuwe Zijlen, you will sail through the Lauwersmeer to the sea lock in Lauwersoog. You get to choose: will you anchor on the wad or sail to the tidal harbor of Schiermonnikoog?
With your own sailboat, you will discover the most beautiful nature reserve in our country. You are one with nature and live with the rhythm of the tide. You can spot seals on one of the many sandbanks and sail from one island to another.

A day of sailing on the Lauwersmeer
What could be better than spending a warm summer day on the water? Sailing, swimming, picnicking, and enjoying the sun. At Sailing with Sil, you can rent a classic sloop for a day. From the marina in Dokkumer Nieuwe Zijlen, you can sail right onto the Lauwersmeer.
The Lauwersmeer is a lake on the border between Friesland and Groningen. It used to be the Lauwers Sea; you would then pass through the sea lock at Dokkumer Nieuwe Zijlen. Now, you can find all sorts of uninhabited islands on the Lauwersmeer, which were once sandbanks. One of these islands is home to the sea eagle. Additionally, on the Groningen side of the Lauwersmeer, you will find the village of Zoutkamp, a small village with a supermarket and a few restaurants.
