Are you exploring this unique region by boat? Discover the new sailing route S\u00fad Ie welcomes you warmly! From Dokkum to Oostmahorn (or vice versa), you will experience beautiful nature, artworks, and, of course, the tranquility and spaciousness of the vast landscape. Through the Dokkumer Grootdiep, you can take a round trip. The old towpath canal will take you back to earlier times, as will the monumental locks at Dokkumer Nieuwe Zijlen. The Lauwersmeer lets you feel the elements of nature. It’s a highly diverse boating trip that takes about a day. Pay close attention to the operating times of the various bridges and locks. Practical Information<\/h2>\n

Practical information for your boat: The S\u00fad Ie is suitable for canoes, sloops, and (motor) boats with a maximum draft of 1.10 meters, width of 4 meters, height of 1.50 meters, and length of 15 meters. In 2023, the route will be accessible for boats with a height of up to 2.40 meters.<\/p>\n

Mooring Places: Along the route, three Marrekrite mooring places have been established. Water sports enthusiasts can stay here for a maximum of three days free of charge, provided they adhere to Marrekrite’s rules. The mooring opportunities can be found at Jouswier (Reidsw\u00e2l), the Anjumer Kolken, and Ezumazijl. Each location offers sixty meters of mooring space.<\/p> <\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n

Locks<\/h2>\n

The route is approximately twelve kilometers long and is marked by two locks. The Oosterverlaat lock near Schapedijkje in Dokkum is a monumental lock operated by the lock keeper. Call Mr. Jagersma (from Camping Harddraverspark) at 06-50606390 ten to fifteen minutes before arrival for operation.<\/p>\n

The lock at the Landal Esonstad holiday park can be operated by yourself. Clear instructions will assist you in navigating the lock easily.
